Most fluorescent lights on offer today are either 2ft, 4ft or 5ft in length. These can be found in places of business such as corporate offices, retails stores, warehouses, schools and colleges, universities and even domestically.

They utilise magnetic ballasts with starters and can be recognised as such by the flickering that occurs when switched on. They typically draw high amounts of electricity consumption

The Hyundai T5 System saves electricity by converting these fittings rather than replacing the entire fitting. The conversion being that of the new E.C.G. (Electric Control Gear). This replacement system is achieved simply by removing the starter and disconnecting the capacitor and can be done by an inexperienced person and furthermore is guaranteed to cut your electricity bill by 40%. This inexpensive conversion will be a significant saving and will be amortised in a very short period of time. The tube is mounted on an aluminium backed fitting, this contains the electronic control gear which replaces the ballast and starter.

When the tube eventually wears out, the backing is retained and only the tube needs to be replaced. This is at a cost of only R20.00 excluding V.A.T. for a 4ft tube.

The product is SABS approved and has the CE mark. This mark meets very high standards because all the components used in the manufacture also have to have obtained the CE mark as well.  The product operates on 35% less mercury vapour and is therefore an acceptable ’green’ item.  Each 4’ tube consumes only 28 watts and nothing more.

The increase in luminosity is 20% brighter than the old style fitting. This is helped by the tri-phosphor coating. (Three coatings inside the tube).

The old style coatings deteriorate and become less efficient with age. This does not happen in the Hyundai fitting.  On start up the old designs flicker for some time, this flickering is often a major cause of rapid wear on the tube, whereas the new ones light up instantaneously.  Old tubes rated – say 36watts actually consume 72 watts because the ballast consumes the extra 36 watts.  Old tubes expected life is 10,000 hours and the new tubes 20,000 hours.
