Frequently asked questions
Waterfree urinals, answered
Everything facilities managers ask before switching — how it works, what it saves, and what it takes to maintain. Can't find your answer? Talk to a specialist.
How it works
Do waterfree urinals smell?
No. The sealed Velocity cartridge lets liquid drain through while blocking odours from coming back up the drain. With no standing water there is far less for bacteria to breed in, so waterfree washrooms typically smell fresher than conventional ones.
How much water does a waterfree urinal actually save?
Falcon Waterfree urinals use no water at all — they save 100% of the water a flushing urinal would use. That is typically 100,000 litres or more of fresh water per urinal, every year.
What is the Velocity cartridge?
It is the heart and soul of the Falcon Waterfree urinal — a sealed cartridge with patent-pending features that lets liquid pass through while keeping odours and bacteria out.
Maintenance & retrofitting
What maintenance is involved?
Very little. The only routine task is changing the Velocity cartridge around three to four times a year. There is no flushometer to service, and the drain lines avoid the calcification that blocks conventional urinals.
Can I convert my existing urinals instead of replacing them?
Yes. The Falcon High Performance Key-Valve (HPKV) is a syphon technology that seals the drain without water, so existing urinals can be retrofitted to run waterfree.
How does the Arumloo toilet save water?
The Arumloo uses a vortex shape inspired by the Nautilus shell — the path of least resistance. It clears waste cleanly on far less water than a standard toilet, without needing a double flush.
